A... bildungsroman?
I’ve been reading Joyce’s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, which is absolutely fantastic. It is perhaps one of the best examples of one of of my favorite genres, the bildungsroman, or a novel that documents the growth and change of a character from childhood to adulthood, towards self-actualization.
